The most clutch performance in college football history — the 2006 Rose Bowl against USC.
Vince Young was born in Houston, Texas in 1983. He attended the University of Texas and produced one of the most celebrated individual performances in college football history. His 2005 season culminated in the BCS National Championship Game against USC — a Rose Bowl in which he threw for 267 yards, rushed for 200 yards and scored 3 touchdowns, the decisive one coming with 19 seconds remaining to beat USC 41-38 and deny them a third consecutive national championship. His individual performance that night — he finished with 467 total yards and ran for the winning score on fourth down — is considered by many the greatest individual game in college football bowl history. He finished runner-up to Reggie Bush in the 2005 Heisman vote despite most observers believing his performance warranted the award. His three-year Texas career produced 6,040 passing yards, 3,127 rushing yards and 70 total touchdowns. He was the consensus All-American quarterback. He was selected third overall in the 2006 NFL Draft by Tennessee Titans. His college career peak — that Rose Bowl night — represents a moment of athletic transcendence that defined his legacy regardless of what followed professionally.
