Jordan Alexander Love was born on 2 November 1998 in Bakersfield, California, to Orbin Love Jr., a Bakersfield police officer, and Anna Love, who worked for the California Highway Patrol, and attended Liberty High School, where he starred in football under his father's coaching. When Jordan was 14, his father died by suicide, a devastating loss that led him to briefly consider quitting football before his mother encouraged him to continue for another year. Love earned an athletic scholarship to Utah State University, being named MVP of the 2018 New Mexico Bowl, before the Green Bay Packers selected him in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft. Love spent three seasons as backup to Aaron Rodgers before becoming Green Bay's starting quarterback in 2023, leading the Packers to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons as starter, including a postseason victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension ahead of the 2024 season, cementing his status as the Packers' franchise quarterback, and has continued to lead the storied franchise while carrying forward the memory of the father whose coaching first shaped his football career.
