Jordan Love's father, a Bakersfield police officer, coached him at Liberty High School and died by suicide when Jordan was 14. The loss nearly drove Love away from football before his mother encouraged him to keep playing. Born on November 2, 1998, in Bakersfield, California, to Orbin Love Jr. and Anna Love, who worked for the California Highway Patrol, he carried that history with him into an athletic scholarship at Utah State University. He was named MVP of the 2018 New Mexico Bowl there before the Green Bay Packers selected him in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2020 NFL Draft. Love spent three seasons as backup to Aaron Rodgers before becoming Green Bay's starting quarterback in 2023, leading the Packers to the playoffs in each of his first two seasons as starter, including a postseason victory over the Dallas Cowboys. Love signed a four-year, $220 million contract extension ahead of the 2024 season, and has continued to lead the storied franchise while carrying forward the memory of the father whose coaching first shaped his football career.
