Ted Hankey

The Count — two-time BDO World Champion whose gothic Count Dracula-inspired presentation, complete with cape and theatrical entrance, helped establish the theatrical walk-on tradition that is now one of professional darts' most distinctive features.

Ted Hankey was born in Staines, England on 26 November 1960. He won the BDO World Championship in 2000 and 2009 — the second title coming nine years after the first, reflecting a consistency of high-level performance that most players cannot sustain across a decade. His Count Dracula presentation — the cape, the fangs, the theatrical entrance — was one of the most distinctive in the sport and helped popularise the elaborate walk-on style that became standard across the professional game.
