The Viking — 2004 BDO World Champion and one of the most beloved personalities in darts history. Fordham's enormous frame, massive scoring power and gentle, friendly personality made him one of the sport's most popular champions, and his courageous battle with weight and health issues after his title earned widespread admiration.

Andy Fordham was born in Ilfracombe, Devon on 24 January 1962. He won the BDO World Championship in 2004, defeating Mervyn King in the final, during a period when the BDO championship still commanded a significant television audience. His enormous stature — he stood over six feet tall and weighed in excess of 24 stone — and his powerful throwing action gave him an imposing presence at the oche, but his personality was entirely at odds with his appearance: warm, gentle and universally liked. His subsequent health struggles were well-documented, and his courage in addressing them earned him respect far beyond the darts world.
