Sydney 2000 gold medallist — part of the most celebrated British rowing four in history.

Tim Foster was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire in 1970. He won Olympic gold in the coxless four at Sydney 2000 alongside Steve Redgrave, Matthew Pinsent and James Cracknell. He suffered a serious back injury in 2000 that threatened his participation in Sydney — he managed to compete and win. He won three World Championship titles. He was the quieter member of the famous four but his contribution — particularly his ability to compete while injured — was widely praised. He was awarded an MBE.
