Texas legend who shattered all-time NCAA rushing records — won the 1998 Heisman by the largest margin ever.
Errick Lynne Williams Jr. was born in San Diego, California in 1977. He attended the University of Texas and shattered the all-time NCAA Division I rushing record — accumulating 6,279 career rushing yards to surpass Tony Dorsett's mark. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1998 by the largest margin in the award's history at that time. He also won the Doak Walker Award twice (1997, 1998) — the only player ever to win the award twice. He was a two-time consensus All-American. He scored 75 career touchdowns. He was selected fifth overall by the New Orleans Saints in the 1999 NFL Draft. His professional career was disrupted by multiple suspensions for marijuana use and a brief retirement in 2004 after the Miami Dolphins traded all of his draft picks to acquire him. His Texas career — the all-time NCAA rushing record and the most dominant Heisman victory margin of his era — remains the most statistically productive in Longhorns history.
