The Flying Scotsman — two-time PDC World Champion in 2015 and 2016, and one of the most naturally gifted dart throwers the sport has produced. Anderson's deceptively relaxed, unhurried action belies a technical quality that produces consistently remarkable averages, and his ability to raise his game on the biggest occasions made him one of the sport's finest champions.
Gary Anderson was born in Forfar, Scotland on 16 July 1970. He spent years as a journeyman on the PDC circuit before his talent finally produced the results it deserved, winning his first PDC World Championship in 2015 at the age of 44. He retained the title in 2016, defeating Adrian Lewis in the final. He has also won the Premier League three times and the Grand Slam of Darts twice. His throwing action — seemingly effortless, the dart drifting to the board with minimum apparent exertion — is widely regarded as the most technically elegant in the game. He has been refreshingly honest about his dislike of practising and his preference for competing over training, which makes his achievements all the more remarkable. He continued to compete at major events well into his fifties. A crowd favourite everywhere he played, his warm Scottish personality and obvious love of the game made him one of darts' most popular champions.

Anderson has repeatedly stated he rarely practises — preferring to stay sharp through competing. His two World titles suggest this approach works rather well.
