The greatest fast bowler of his generation and South Africa's most feared weapon with the ball.
Dale Steyn was born on 27 June 1983 in Phalaborwa, South Africa. He is widely regarded as the greatest fast bowler of his generation, taking 439 wickets in 93 Tests at an average of 22.95 — making him South Africa's all-time leading wicket-taker. His pace, swing and ability to move the ball both ways at high speed made him virtually unplayable at his peak. He spent significant periods at No. 1 in the ICC Test bowling rankings. Injuries hampered his later career but his peak from 2007 to 2016 was extraordinary. He was also a key performer in ODIs and T20s.
ICC No. 1 Test bowler (263 weeks)
At his peak, he held the No. 1 ICC Test bowling ranking for 263 weeks — the longest consecutive period for any fast bowler.
