Azzedine Ounahi was born in Casablanca, Morocco on 19 July 2000. A dynamic central midfielder with excellent dribbling, passing range and stamina, Ounahi was a relative unknown before the 2022 World Cup, where he emerged as one of the tournament's most impressive players. His performances for Morocco as they reached the semi-finals — combining relentless pressing with technical quality in midfield — attracted attention across Europe. Marseille signed him for £32m in January 2023. He had previously developed at Angers in Ligue 1. At Marseille he continued to develop, though injuries hampered his first full season. He was nominated for the 2022 Ballon d'Or due to his World Cup displays. For Morocco he has earned over 40 caps, establishing himself as a key figure in the national team.
