Versatile and skilled big man who has been a key part of Orlando Magic's exciting young core during their playoff resurgence.
Wendell Carter Jr. was born in Atlanta, Georgia on 16 April 1999. A skilled, versatile center with good passing for his size, solid defence and a developing perimeter game, Carter was selected seventh overall in the 2018 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls. He showed promise in Chicago before a trade to the Orlando Magic in 2021 as part of the Nikola Vučevic deal. In Orlando he found his footing as a key contributor alongside Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero, helping the Magic transform from lottery team to playoff contender. His combination of shooting range, rebounding and two-way play makes him a modern center in a team that prizes versatility and intelligence. His health has been a recurring issue, but when available he has been one of the league's better young big men.
