Hawaii 501 — a flamboyant, colourful personality on the PDC circuit in the 2000s and 2010s who became one of the sport's finest television analysts and commentators after his playing career. Mardle's shirts, his enthusiasm and his warm broadcasting style made him as well-known in his punditry career as in his playing years.
Wayne Mardle was born in Barking, London on 2 July 1972. He was part of the group of players who broke away from the BDO to join the PDC in 2003, and became a consistent top-16 performer across the following decade. Known as Hawaii 501 for his flamboyant shirts and loud personality, Mardle brought colour and entertainment to the PDC circuit and was a popular figure in the sport. After retiring from competitive play he became one of Sky Sports' most respected darts commentators, known for his technical knowledge and enthusiastic delivery.
