One of Test cricket's greatest match-winners, capable of conjuring miraculous innings out of nowhere.
VVS Laxman was born on 1 November 1974 in Hyderabad, India. He made his Test debut in 1996 and became one of India's most beloved cricketers for his ability to produce magical innings in crisis situations. His 281 at Eden Gardens against Australia in 2001, in partnership with Rahul Dravid, helped India win from an almost impossible position after following on — considered the greatest Test match ever played. Laxman scored 8,781 Test runs in 134 Tests at 45.97. He was rarely selected in ODIs but was considered priceless in Tests. He retired in 2012.
