India's greatest ever spinner with 619 Test wickets — a record that stood for over a decade.
Anil Kumble was born on 17 October 1970 in Bangalore, India. He made his Test debut in 1990 and became India's greatest ever bowler, taking 619 Test wickets — the third most in history and India's all-time record. A leg-spin bowler who relied on accuracy and turn rather than flight, he became known as 'Jumbo.' He is the only Indian to take 10 wickets in a Test innings (10/74 against Pakistan in 1999). He also took 337 ODI wickets. He led India as Test captain in 14 Tests. After retiring in 2008, he became India's head coach (2016-2017).
