Ice Trae — the most prolific scoring and passing point guard of his draft class.
Rayford Trae Young was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1998. Oklahoma City Thunder selected him fifth overall in the 2018 NBA Draft and immediately traded him to the Atlanta Hawks in the deal that brought Luka Doncic to Dallas. He won the Rookie of the Year runner-up award in 2019. He was selected to three All-Star games. His career averages of 26.2 points and 9.6 assists per game are among the highest in NBA history for a player through his first six seasons — he is one of fewer than 10 players in NBA history to average 25 points and 9 assists per game for a career. He led the Atlanta Hawks to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, stunning the Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks. His deep-range shooting — he regularly attempts and makes shots from 30+ feet — combined with elite court vision make him one of the most creative offensive players in the league. The New York crowd gave him the nickname Ice Trae for his calm under hostile conditions at Madison Square Garden during the 2021 playoffs.
