The tallest and most dominating goalkeeper of his generation — Champions League winner and Yashin Award.
Thibaut Nicolas Marc Courtois was born in Bree, Belgium in 1992. Genk developed him before Chelsea signed him and loaned him to Atlético Madrid for three seasons. His Chelsea career produced the Premier League in 2015. Real Madrid paid £35 million for him in 2018. His Madrid career has produced two La Liga titles and the 2022 Champions League — in which his performance against Liverpool in the Final, making nine saves in a man-of-the-match display, won him the Yashin Award as the best goalkeeper in the world that year. He represented Belgium 102 times — his golden generation that reached the 2018 World Cup semi-final. At 6ft 6in his physical presence and the angles he presented to shooters — reducing available net by his sheer size — combined with exceptional reflexes and distribution make him the dominant goalkeeper in Europe during his Madrid peak.
