Gentle giant and fan favourite New Zealand center whose physical dominance, unique charm and beloved personality made him an NBA institution.
Steven Adams was born in Rotorua, New Zealand on 20 July 1993. One of the most physically imposing and endearing personalities in the NBA, Adams is a 7ft, 255lb centre with extraordinary strength, elite screen-setting and underrated ball-handling for his size. He was selected 12th overall in the 2013 NBA Draft by the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he was a key partner to Russell Westbrook, Kevin Durant and Paul George across several seasons. He moved to the New Orleans Pelicans in 2020, then Memphis Grizzlies, where a serious injury has hindered recent seasons. His New Zealand background, distinctive facial hair and warm personality made him one of the NBA's most loved figures globally. He is New Zealand's greatest basketball export and a role model at home.
