Generational WNBA point guard whose elite scoring, playmaking and three-point shooting have made her one of the most dominant players in league history.
Sabrina Ionescu was born in Walnut Creek, California on 6 December 1997. The most decorated player in NCAA women's basketball history, Ionescu set the all-time record for triple-doubles in college and was the unanimous first overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty. A gifted and fearless scorer with elite three-point range, outstanding court vision and leadership, she bounced back from a devastating ankle injury in her rookie year to become the WNBA's most electrifying player. She won WNBA scoring titles, made multiple All-Star appearances and led New York to their first WNBA Finals in decades in 2023. She also made history at the 2024 NBA All-Star Game, participating in the three-point contest against Steph Curry and nearly defeating him. She is widely regarded as the face of the modern WNBA.
