WNBA champion, former MVP and one of the most decorated and respected players in league history, renowned for her post mastery and professionalism.
Nneka Ogwumike was born in Tomball, Texas on 2 July 1990 to Nigerian parents. One of the most technically complete players in WNBA history, Ogwumike won the WNBA MVP in 2016 and the championship with the Los Angeles Sparks in the same year. A supremely skilled post player with exceptional footwork, mid-range touch and football sense — she is the daughter of former NFL receiver Emeka Ogwumike — she has been an All-Star and leader throughout her career. She served as WNBA Players Association president, a significant leadership role that helped navigate labour negotiations. She later moved to Seattle Storm and then Phoenix Mercury. Her sister Chiney also played in the WNBA, as did multiple other family members, making the Ogwumike family one of basketball's most extraordinary dynasties.
