Nicolas Claxton was born in Rock Hill, South Carolina on 17 April 1999. A 6ft 11in center with exceptional athleticism, long arms and the rare ability to switch onto guards while protecting the rim, Claxton is one of the NBA's more interesting defensive center profiles. He was selected 31st overall by the Brooklyn Nets in the 2019 NBA Draft and developed steadily to become their starting center. His shot-blocking, defensive versatility and surprisingly fluid ball-handling for his size make him a fascinating modern big man. His partnership with Ben Simmons as an offensive hub-and-rim-protector tandem showed promise before roster instability disrupted the Nets' plans. He remains one of the NBA's more athletically gifted centers.
