Smooth and highly talented Denver Nuggets forward who overcame serious injury to help win the franchise's first NBA Championship in 2023.
Michael Porter Jr. was born in Columbia, Missouri on 29 June 1998. A supremely gifted scorer blessed with a rare combination of height (6ft 10in), shooting touch and offensive versatility, Porter was considered a potential top pick in the 2018 NBA Draft before serious back injuries dramatically dropped his stock. Denver gambled on him with the 14th pick and he has largely vindicated their faith, developing into one of the league's most productive stretch forwards. His ability to score in a variety of ways — particularly his pull-up three-pointer — makes him a constant threat. He won the NBA Championship with Denver in 2023 alongside Nikola Jokić and Jamal Murray. Health has remained a factor in his career, but when fit he is regarded as one of the more gifted scorers in the league.
