The Nuke — PDC World Champion at 17, the youngest in the competition's history, and the most talked-about individual sporting story of 2024. Luke Littler arrived at Alexandra Palace as a 16-year-old qualifier and reached the final, losing to Luke Humphries. He came back twelve months later and won it. His blistering averages, ice-cool temperament and obvious delight at competing make him the most exciting young player the sport has ever produced.
Luke Littler was born in Warrington, England on 21 January 2007. He picked up a dart at the age of two and by his mid-teens was already producing professional-level averages on the PDC Development Tour. He qualified for the PDC World Championship in December 2023 as a 16-year-old and immediately shocked the darts world by defeating established PDC professionals round after round before falling in the final to Luke Humphries. The media attention that followed was unprecedented for a darts player — Littler became a household name overnight. In 2024 he won the PDC Premier League and multiple Players Championship titles. In January 2025 he returned to Alexandra Palace and won the PDC World Championship, defeating Michael van Gerwen in the final to become the youngest world champion in the competition's history at 17 years and 342 days. He averaged over 108 in the final. His personality — relaxed, unpretentious, clearly enjoying every moment — has made him universally popular. He is known to enjoy chicken nuggets. The Nuke is the future of darts, and arguably already its present.
