Luke Humphries was born in Bridlington, East Yorkshire on 31 January 2001. He turned professional on the PDC circuit and spent several years quietly improving, working on his game and his mental approach with a focus and dedication that was not yet visible from his ranking position. His breakthrough came in 2023 when he reached the quarter-finals of multiple major events and began producing averages consistently above 100. At the 2024 PDC World Championship he defeated Luke Littler — who had captured the attention of the entire sporting world — in the final, winning 7-4 in a match of the highest quality. He became world number one shortly after. His approach to darts — disciplined, thoughtful, grounded — reflects the sport at its most professional. Known for his calm demeanour on stage and his measured approach to public attention, he has become a respected champion and an ambassador for the modern game.
