The Ferret — 2021 Premier League and Grand Slam of Darts champion, and one of the most consistently excellent Welsh players in PDC history. Jonny Clayton's relaxed personality, dependable finishing and outstanding performance across long format competitions made 2021 the finest individual darts season by any Welsh player.
Jonny Clayton was born in Llanelli, Wales on 26 May 1974. He worked as a groundskeeper before turning professional on the PDC circuit in 2015. He spent his early professional years steadily climbing the rankings before his 2021 season produced an extraordinary run of results — he won the Premier League in May, the Grand Slam of Darts in November, and finished the year as a genuine world top-five player. His ability to perform under the sustained pressure of Premier League competition, where players face eight of the world's best across 17 evenings, demonstrated a consistency of finishing and composure that most players only produce in individual events. Nicknamed The Ferret for his energetic, busy approach, Clayton is a beloved figure on the circuit — warm, funny, and clearly enjoying every moment of a career that arrived relatively late but has delivered major silverware.
