Poland's world No. 1 and four-time French Open champion — the dominant women's player of the 2020s.

Iga Świątek was born in Warsaw, Poland in 1991, the daughter of Tomasz Świątek who competed as a rower at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. She developed at the Polish Tennis Association from childhood and turned professional in 2016. She won the French Open in 2020 as an unseeded 19-year-old — becoming the first Polish player to win a Grand Slam singles title. She won the French Open again in 2022, 2023 and 2024, the US Open in 2022, and reached the world number one ranking in April 2022. She spent a record consecutive stretch at number one — over 100 weeks by the end of 2023. Between February and July 2022 she won 37 consecutive matches — the longest winning streak in women's tennis in the Open Era. She has been named WTA Player of the Year three consecutive times. Her heavy topspin forehand, exceptional movement and tactical maturity on clay made her virtually unbeatable on the surface — she conceded a single set across three Roland Garros final runs from 2022 to 2024. She employs sports psychologist Piotr Tukaski as part of her regular support team.
