Anastasia Valeryevna Liukin was born in Moscow, Russia in 1989 — her father Valeri Liukin was a Soviet Olympic gymnastics champion. She moved to the United States as a child. She won five Olympic medals at Beijing 2008. Her style — exceptional extension, artistic quality and grace on the uneven bars — is considered the most aesthetically beautiful in modern women's gymnastics. She won nine World Championship medals. She became a gymnastic analyst and television commentator after retirement.
