Prime Time — the only athlete in history to play in both a Super Bowl and a World Series, Deion Sanders was the most gifted cornerback the NFL has ever produced. His combination of elite speed, shutdown coverage and the confidence of a showman made him the game's highest-paid defender and a cultural phenomenon. Two Super Bowl rings (with the 49ers and Cowboys), a career interception count of 53 and a return touchdown total that remained unmatched for years. His swagger, celebrations and designer suits made him as famous off the field as his play made him on it.
Deion Luwynn Sanders was born in Fort Myers, Florida in 1967. He is the only athlete in history to appear in both a Super Bowl and a World Series. He won two Super Bowls (San Francisco 1994, Dallas 1995) and played nine MLB seasons. He was named NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1994. He made 53 career interceptions and scored 22 defensive touchdowns. He was selected to eight Pro Bowls. His speed — he also sprinted professionally — and instinct made him the most feared cornerback of his era. He later coached Jackson State to the SWAC championship and transformed Colorado's programme as head coach in 2023, winning Big 12 Coach of the Year. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011.
