David Ferrer was born on 2 April 1982 in Javéa, Spain. He turned professional in 2000 and spent over 15 years as one of the world's best players. Known for exceptional fitness, relentless baseline tenacity and incredible work rate, Ferrer reached a career-high ranking of No. 3 in the world. He reached the Roland Garros final in 2013 and won five Davis Cup titles with Spain. Ferrer retired in 2019 at the Barcelona Open, receiving a moving tribute. He won 27 ATP titles and is regarded as the best player of his generation never to win a Grand Slam.
