Intelligent and versatile Dutch defender whose reading of the game and passing ability allowed him to excel in multiple positions.
Daley Blind was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on 9 March 1990, the son of former Ajax and Netherlands manager Danny Blind. He came through Ajax's famed academy and made his first-team debut in 2008. After helping Ajax win four Eredivisie titles, he joined Manchester United in 2014 for £14 million under Louis van Gaal, who had coached him with the Dutch national team. At United he played at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, winning the FA Cup in 2016 and the Europa League in 2017. He returned to Ajax in 2018, winning two more Eredivisie titles and reaching the Champions League semi-final in 2019. He later joined Bayern Munich and Girona. He earned over 100 caps for the Netherlands.

He was diagnosed with a heart condition (myocarditis) in 2019 and plays with an implanted defibrillator, yet continued at the highest level.
