The most terrifying tall fast bowler in cricket history — 405 Test wickets of almost unplayable quality.
Curtly Elconn Lynwall Ambrose was born in Swetes, Antigua in 1963. He took 405 Test wickets at 20.99 — among the finest averages of any fast bowler with significant volume. His 7/1 against Australia in 1993 — restricting the world's number one team to 26 runs — is the most devastating individual bowling spell in modern Test history. He played bass guitar in a band after retirement. He was knighted by the government of Antigua. He is considered the finest West Indian bowler of the post-Marshall era.
