Lawrence Peter Berra was born in St Louis, Missouri in 1925. He caught for the New York Yankees from 1946 to 1963. He won 10 World Series rings — the most by any player in MLB history. He served in the US Navy at Normandy. He managed the Yankees to the pennant in 1964 and was fired the next day. He later managed the Mets.
