Half Man Half Amazing — the most spectacular dunker in NBA history and an 22-season career spanning four decades.

Vincent Lamar Carter was born in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1977. Toronto Raptors selected him fifth overall in the 1998 NBA Draft. His 22-season career — the longest in NBA history spanning four different decades from 1998 to 2020 — produced 25,728 career points, eight All-Star appearances and memories that have never faded. He won the Slam Dunk Contest in 2000 with a performance widely considered the greatest in the contest's history — his between-the-legs dunk and elbow dunk while hanging from the rim created moments that defined a generation. At the Sydney 2000 Olympics he threw down a windmill dunk over 7ft 2in French centre Frederic Weis that became known as the Dunk of Death and arguably the most celebrated single dunk ever performed. He transformed the Toronto Raptors into a franchise worth caring about and basketball into a mainstream sport in Canada. His nickname Half Man Half Amazing captured exactly what made him special. He won Olympic silver with the USA in 2000. He played his final NBA game at 43 years old in 2020. He was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2024.
