Takefusa Kubo was born in Fujisawa, Kanagawa, Japan on 4 June 2001. A technically exceptional winger with extraordinary dribbling, balance and creativity, Kubo was identified as a generational talent from childhood, having spent time in Barcelona's famed La Masia academy before FIFA regulations required his removal due to his age. Real Madrid signed him at 18 in 2019 and sent him on a series of loan moves across Spain — Mallorca, Villarreal, Getafe, Sevilla — where he consistently impressed.
