Steve McMichael was born in Freer, Texas in 1957. He was the anchor of the 1985 Chicago Bears defence — the most dominant defensive team in NFL history. He recorded 70 career sacks. He became a professional wrestler after retirement. He was diagnosed with ALS in 2021 — his Hall of Fame induction in 2024 was attended while he was seriously ill, one of the sport's most emotional individual ceremonies.
