Stan the Man — three NL MVP awards, seven batting titles and 22 seasons of extraordinary consistency made Musial the most beloved player in St Louis Cardinals history.
Stan Musial was born in Donora, Pennsylvania in 1920. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals from 1941 to 1963, hitting .331 for his career and producing 3,630 hits — the NL record when he retired. He won three MVP awards (1943, 1946, 1948) and three World Series championships (1942, 1944, 1946). He won seven batting titles. He was a 24-time All-Star. He hit exactly 1,815 home and road hits — a coincidence of symmetry that became one of baseball's most celebrated statistical oddities.
