Versatile German forward whose NBA-level brand appeal, elite scoring and global platform have made her one of the most marketable players in women's basketball.
Satou Sabally was born in Brooklyn, New York on 5 February 1999 to a Gambian father and German mother. A 6ft 2in forward with exceptional basketball IQ, scoring versatility and a growing commercial profile, Sabally grew up between the US and Germany and represents Germany internationally. She was selected second overall in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings, where she has been one of the team's primary offensive options alongside Arike Ogunbowale. Her combination of size, skill and marketing appeal — she has Nike, Puma and other sponsorship deals — have made her one of women's basketball's most prominent global faces. Her sister Nyara Sabally also plays in the WNBA, making them one of professional basketball's most notable sibling pairings.
