Two-time Wimbledon champion whose powerful left-handed game dominated the grass courts.
Petra Kvitová was born on 8 March 1990 in Bila Trebova, Czech Republic. She turned professional in 2006 and developed into a dominant grass-court champion with her powerful left-handed serve and aggressive game. She won Wimbledon in 2011 and 2014, and reached the Australian Open final in 2019. In December 2016 she was attacked in her home by a knife-wielding intruder who slashed her playing hand; she returned to tennis less than five months later in an extraordinary show of courage and subsequently won another major title. She retired in 2024.
Wimbledon 2011
