The Rat — the most disruptive and skilled power forward in the modern NHL, whose physical edge and elite playmaking led Florida to their first Stanley Cup in 2023.
Matthew Tkachuk was born in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1997 — son of NHL veteran Keith Tkachuk. The Calgary Flames selected him sixth overall in the 2016 Draft. He was traded to the Florida Panthers in 2022 in one of the most significant NHL trades in years — bringing Matthew back to the Sun Belt. He won the Stanley Cup with Florida in 2023, being named a Conn Smythe runner-up. He won the Hart Trophy in 2023. His combination of skill — excellent playmaking, powerful skating — with his willingness to agitate opponents and draw penalties makes him the most complete power forward in the modern game. His brother Brady Tkachuk also plays in the NHL — they are the most prominent brother duo in the modern game.
