Maro Itoje was born in Camden, London in 1994 of Nigerian heritage. He made his England debut in 2016 and was immediately selected for the British & Irish Lions tour. He has been named in the Lions Test team in both 2017 and 2021. His combination of ball-carrying ability, aerial dominance at lineout and exceptional breakdown work has made him the most complete lock in world rugby. He was educated at Harrow School. He has been vocal about racism in sport and social inequality. He captained England from 2024. He is widely expected to become England's most-capped lock.
