Uncle Drew — one of the most skilled ball-handlers in basketball history and the man who hit the shot that ended Cleveland's 52-year drought.
Kyrie Andrew Irving was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1992, the son of former NBA player Drederick Irving. Cleveland Cavaliers selected him first overall in the 2011 NBA Draft. He won the Rookie of the Year in 2012. He was selected to seven All-Star games. His career-defining moment came in Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors — with the score tied in the final minute, he stepped back over Steph Curry and buried a three-pointer that gave Cleveland its first championship in 52 years. He averaged 22.8 points per game across his career. His ball-handling — considered by many coaches to be the finest in NBA history — combined with his mid-range finishing and ability to score off the dribble make him one of the most skilful offensive players the league has produced. He joined the Dallas Mavericks in 2023 and partnered with Luka Doncic to reach the NBA Finals in 2024. His career has been disrupted by controversial public statements and a lengthy suspension in 2022. He won Olympic gold with the USA in 2016.
