Two consecutive Tour de France titles — the quiet Dane who ended Pogačar's dominance.
Jonas Vingegaard Rasmussen was born in Hillerød, Denmark in 1996. He worked in a fish factory before cycling became his full-time career. He won the Tour de France consecutively in 2022 and 2023 — defeating Tadej Pogačar both times. His 2023 victory — after Pogačar attacked on the Col de la Loze and Vingegaard responded immediately and rode away — is considered the finest individual moment in recent Tour history. He was seriously injured in a crash during the 2024 Vuelta al País Vasco — fracturing his collarbone, ribs and hand. He returned to racing before the Tour de France but did not defend his title. He is the most reserved and methodical of the current generation's Grand Tour contenders.
