The Drive — John Elway led the most famous comeback in NFL Championship history in 1987, before winning back-to-back Super Bowls to close a brilliant 16-year career.
John Elway was born in Port Angeles, Washington in 1960. Denver Broncos acquired him via trade in 1983 after he refused to play for Baltimore. Over 16 seasons he led Denver to five Super Bowl appearances and won back-to-back championships in XXXII and XXXIII. He was named Super Bowl XXXIII MVP, selected to nine Pro Bowls and won the NFL MVP in 1987. The Drive — a 98-yard march to tie the 1986 AFC Championship game against Cleveland — is among the most celebrated drives in NFL postseason history. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2004 and later rebuilt the Broncos as general manager, winning Super Bowl 50.
