The 2009 world champion who won six of the first seven races with Brawn GP — from backmarker team to champion.
Jenson Alexander Lyons Button was born in Frome, Somerset in 1980. He made his F1 debut with Williams at 20 in 2000. The most remarkable story of his career — and one of F1's most celebrated individual narratives — was his 2009 championship with Brawn GP: a team that had been Honda, nearly folded in 2008, was bought for £1 by Ross Brawn, and then won the championship in its first and only season through an innovative double-diffuser design. He won six of the first seven races. He retired from full-time F1 racing after 2016 and competed in Super GT and Le Mans racing subsequently.
