The most accurate shooter on the most efficient offence of his era — three-time All-Star for Utah and Phoenix.
Jeff Hornacek was born in Elmhurst, Illinois in 1963. Phoenix Suns selected him in the second round of the 1986 NBA Draft after four years at Iowa State. His 14-season career produced 14.5 points and 5.1 assists per game along with three All-Star appearances. He was named All-NBA Second Team twice. He was the defensive and offensive fulcrum of the Utah Jazz teams that reached two NBA Finals (1997, 1998) alongside John Stockton and Karl Malone. He shot 40.1% from three and 87.7% from the free throw line across his career. His ability to defend multiple positions, facilitate the offence and score efficiently from multiple ranges made him the ideal third piece of Utah's system. Phoenix traded him to Philadelphia and then to Utah — in retrospect one of the more lopsided trades of the 1990s, given what he produced in the Jazz system. He later coached the New York Knicks. His combination of shooting, two-way play and basketball intelligence made him one of the most respected players of his era among coaches and teammates.
