Two-time World Champion and the most complete racing driver of his generation — widely regarded as the most talented driver since Senna.
Fernando Alonso Díaz was born in Oviedo, Spain in 1981 and became the most versatile racing driver of his generation — winning 2 Formula 1 World Championships with Renault and continuing to compete at the highest level into his forties. He drove for Minardi (2001), Renault (2003–2006, 2008–2009), McLaren (2007), Ferrari (2010–2014), McLaren (2015–2018), Alpine (2021–2022) and Aston Martin (2023–present). He won 2 championships: 2005 and 2006, becoming the youngest double world champion at 24. He won 32 Grand Prix from 390 starts, taking 22 pole positions and scoring 106 podiums with 2,267 career points. Beyond Formula 1 he won the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2018 and 2019, the Daytona 24 Hours in 2019 and competed in the Indianapolis 500 — pursuing the Triple Crown of motorsport. His 2005 and 2006 championships defeated the previously dominant Michael Schumacher at Ferrari, announcing a new era. His relationship with McLaren and teammate Lewis Hamilton in 2007 was deeply fractious — both finished joint third in the championship. He is considered by many within motorsport as the most complete driver of his era. He was still scoring podiums aged 43 in 2025.
