Two-time Super Bowl MVP who beat Tom Brady and the Patriots twice — the ultimate big-game quarterback.
Elisha Nelson Manning was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1981, the son of Archie Manning and younger brother of Peyton Manning. San Diego Chargers selected him first overall in the 2004 NFL Draft and immediately traded him to the New York Giants for Philip Rivers. His 16-season career produced two Super Bowl championships (Super Bowls XLII and XLVI) and two Super Bowl MVP awards — both against the New England Patriots of Tom Brady. His Super Bowl XLII performance — orchestrating the game-winning 83-yard drive including David Tyree's helmet catch in the final minutes to defeat the previously unbeaten Patriots — is one of the most celebrated quarterback performances in Super Bowl history. He also won Super Bowl XLVI in 2012, again against the Patriots. He made four Pro Bowls. He threw for 57,023 yards and 366 touchdowns across his career. His ability to elevate his game in postseason — particularly in hostile environments and against dominant defences — made him uniquely valuable in high-pressure moments. He started 210 consecutive regular season games — the longest streak in Giants history. He retired in 2020 and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2023.
