PSG's all-time leading scorer — the most dedicated professional of his generation and one of football's great out-and-out strikers.
Edinson Roberto Cavani Gómez was born in Salto, Uruguay in 1987. Napoli developed him — producing 104 goals in three seasons — before PSG paid £55 million in 2013. His seven PSG seasons produced 200 goals in 301 appearances — the club's all-time record. He won six Ligue 1 titles. He won the Copa América with Uruguay in 2011. He is the most technically orthodox centre-forward of his generation — his movement, his pressing when not in possession and his technical finishing with both feet are textbook. He was named the best centre-forward in the world in 2013 by multiple publications. Manchester United signed him in 2020 and he scored crucial goals in his Europa League run. His fitness regime — known throughout European football as extreme — was described by PSG coaches as unlike any player they had managed. He represented Uruguay 136 times. His brother Pascal also played professional football. His career embodied the virtues of consistent professionalism over individual brilliance.
