The greatest ball-hawking safety in NFL history — Ed Reed's 64 career interceptions, extraordinary instincts and record-breaking 358-yard return total define the modern safety position.
Ed Reed was born in St. Rose, Louisiana in 1978. Baltimore Ravens selected him 24th overall in the 2002 NFL Draft from Miami. Over 12 seasons he recorded 64 career interceptions and 1,590 career interception return yards — the NFL all-time record. He won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2004 and the Super Bowl XLVII championship with Baltimore. He was selected to nine Pro Bowls and named All-Pro five times. He was named to the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team and inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
