He has won 130 Springbok caps — the most of any current Springbok player. He won two Rugby World Cups. He was investigated (and cleared) in 2019 following an alleged assault incident in Langebaan. His combination of lineout ability, carrying power and defensive ferocity in the tackle make him the most complete lock in world rugby alongside France's Paul Willemse.
