Ferocious and combative striker whose aggression, physicality and goals were instrumental in Chelsea's Premier League triumphs.
Diego da Silva Costa was born in Lagarto, Brazil on 7 October 1988. He chose to represent Spain after qualifying through residency. After rising through Atlético Madrid's system and a brief spell at Valladolid, he became one of Europe's top strikers. He joined Chelsea in 2014 for £32 million and was pivotal in winning the Premier League in 2015, scoring 20 goals. His physical style, aggression and ability to antagonise defenders made him a divisive but effective figure. He won two Premier League titles (2015, 2017) in 120 appearances. He fell out with Antonio Conte and returned to Atlético Madrid. He earned 24 caps for Spain.
